I never intended having a website until a tiny nugget of an idea grew and grew and became a great big monster nugget with arms and legs that started to run.

My idea was to produce appropriate pieces of art to help charities I support. By donating them in the form of limited-edition prints, notelets, postcards etc. they would hopefully raise more money than if I just gave a cash donation. Great!

Then I thought what if some people who bought something wanted to make a further donation? How? And, what if they were curious about the artist? Hmmm. Dilemma as I'm neither an egotist, nor do I sell my stuff. Brainwave! Make a website purely (hopefully) to give a bit of pleasure BUT include QR codes that take you straight to the donation page of the charity. I rapidly had to learn best printing techniques and how to build a website, the latter being waaaaay out of my comfort zone. Some of my pictures were made on a small scale but the website blows them up to a size where brush marks that shouldn't be visible are, well, visible. So, this is a 'work in progress' with more boring techy stuff I'll have to learn.

I draw and paint purely for pleasure and for family and friends. My walls, and theirs, have quite a few Alison Tucker (nee Marshall) paintings covering them and that brings me a great sense of enjoyment. However, I have yet to teach our son that when he comes to me with a 'commission' request, it normally involves payment of some sort if only for the frame. I don't expect his understanding of the word to improve any time soon despite repeated attempts over the years! Kids, hey? don't you just love 'em!

All the pieces are watermarked and I'm sure there are clever things out there that can remove them, but I'd be grateful if you didn't as these all mean something personal to me. I'm not doing this to make any money. I suspect it would then begin to feel more like work than pleasure and that would take the joy out of it. If you would like to browse through, feel free and I hope it brings you some enjoyment too.

If you are generous enough to donate some dosh to one of the charities, no matter how small, I would really appreciate it if you would mention you saw it here.

I hope as well it may just inspire anyone who's always thought about it, but never done so, to just pick up a pencil or a brush and have a go. If it's rubbish, there's always the recycling bin (in which many of my attempts have been 'displayed' until collection day). If not, great!
For me, drawing or painting is always utterly calming, absorbing and peaceful......well except for those trips to the recycling bin.
